Northumberland is often referred to as "England's last wilderness" offering miles and miles of beautiful unspoiled countryside and beaches with golden sands which stretch as far as the eye can see.
The region is also rich in historical remains including a multitude of majestic castles such as those at Alnwick - with its extensive garden restorations which are now open to the public, Dunstanburgh, Warkworth, Lindisfarne and Bamburgh - All of which offer seasonal access.
Roman remains are also plentiful, with the most famous, Hadrian's Wall offering a multitude of sites of interest located along its 73 mile length.
And then there are the prehistoric sites - Those that date back thousands and thousands of years. Stone circles, and henges and Northumberland boasts the largest concentration of the prehistoric rock art known as Cup & Ring marks.

Great Tosson itself is a picturesque hamlet with its own Pele Tower - A fortified structure used as a defensive structures to repel the ruthless bands of outlaws known as the Border Reivers. Great Tosson also boasts it's very own Lime Kiln, which has recently been restored.
We are situated only two miles from the pretty village of Rothbury, "The Capital of Coquetdale" and are situated on the very edge of the great Northumberland National Park.
The county is also well catered for the sportsman, with a multitude of golf courses (we actually overlook the Rothbury course), keen mountain bikers can explore the miles and miles of forest single track running over the Simonside Hills.
Anglers can enjoy by arrangement, exclusive private fishing on our very own 3/4 mile stretch of the famous River Coquet.
Or try your hand on the spectacular 18 hole golf course at Rothbury - Literally just down the road!
Tosson Tower makes an ideal base from which to explore the many attractions this beautiful part of the world offers. And don't forget - we are open all the year round - It's equally beautiful in the winter too!
